Correa reflexa 'Carpenter Rocks' (Australian Fuchsia) - Evergreen shrub growing 3-4 feet tall and wide with small clasping heart-shaped green leaves. Bright vermillion red, bell-shaped flowers are tipped with chartreuse. Profuse bloom fall through spring. Full sun to partial shade with good drainage. Drought tolerant once established. Attractive to hummingbirds. Hardy to the mid 20°s F. A Koala Blooms University of California Santa Cruz 2002 Plant Introduction. The name Correa honors José Francisco Correia de Serra, a Portuguese botanist and the specific epithet 'reflexa' is a Latin word meaning "turned back", referring to the angle at which the leaf-like bracts above the flowers join the stem. We discontinued growing this plant in 2007.
