Pereskia 'Pink Rose' (Rose Cactus) - Pereskia is a primitive shrubby cactus that clambers to 6-12 feet tall with lush green leaves that flush reddish when first emerging and produces flowers that resemble wild roses. This plant is reportedly a hybrid of Pereskia bleo. The flowers on this cross are lavender. Long needle-like thorns grow from the leaf bases, so handle carefully ! It should be pruned after flowering to promote bushiness. Plant in full to part sun and give moderate to regular water. Will take a light frost though we have seen tip damage at 30 F. We grew this plant from 2006 until 2008.
The information about Pereskia 'Pink Rose' that is displayed on this web page is based on research conducted in our nursery's horticultural library and from reliable online resources. We will also include observations made about this plant as it grows in our nursery gardens and other gardens that we have visited, as well how the crops have performed in containers in our nursery field. We also incorporate comments that we receive from others and welcome hearing from anyone with additional information, particularly if they share cultural information that aids others growing this plant.
