Chamelaucium uncinatum 'Escondido Rose' (Geraldton Waxflower) - This is a sparse evergreen shrub with soft needle-like foliage that grows 4-6 feet tall with equal spread. The winter to early spring, five-petaled, dark rosy-purple flowers are among the largest of the cultivars that we grow. The new growth (leaves and stems) are red. Full sun. Drought tolerant. It is hardy to about 25 degrees F. This variety, long known in the California cut flower trade as M1, was given to us by Fred Myer of Escondido. We renamed it 'Escondido Rose' to honor this legendary horticulturalist.
