Lupinus albifrons var. collinus (Dwarf Silver Bush Lupine) - A beautiful low mounding fast-growing perennial to 8 inches tall by 1 foot wide with silvery palmate leaves and lavender-blue flowers that rise to 18 inches in spring. Plant in full sun in a very well-drained soil - will not persist in heavy soils or clay. Hardy to around 5-10° F and useful in USDA zones 8-10. A great plant for the rock garden or in a container and a host for the Mission Blue Butterfly. It is native to sunny, dry, gravelly locations in coastal California below 4,500 feet from San Luis Obispo north to Lake County and particularly abundant in the San Francisco Bay area.
