Rhynchelytrum at John Greenlee's Malibu farm |

This evergreen clump forming grass from South Africa was called "one of the showiest of the small flowering grasses" by John Greenlee in his Encyclopedia of Flowering Grasses. From the 1 foot tall dense tufts of thin gray-green leaves emerge clusters of ruby pink flowers in late spring and continue through mid summer; spent flowers are still attrctive into winter. Great back lit. Drought tolerant when established.
