The Last Dance at SMG!
October 4th 2024 with be our LAST Field Day
Celebrating 45 Years in Business!
2010 San Marcos Growers Field Day
In 1978 Marcia and James Hodges began a search in the Santa Barbara area for a suitable site to locate a wholesale ornamental plant nursery. A location along San Marcos Road in the eastern Goleta Valley that had previously been a certified citrus and avocado nursery was deemed to be a perfect fit. This road was part of the original historic pass between Santa Barbara and the Santa Ynez Valley and fittingly, when the nursery opened for business in 1979, the nursery was named San Marcos Growers. For a complete history see San Marcos Growers History.
This year we will invite our customers to join us on October 4th, 2024 to help celebrate our fortyfive year anniversary of serving horticulture, while also commiserating with us about the closing of the nursery at the end of 2025. We will have nursery and garden tours, lunch, plant displays, discussion about our history and the plants we have grown, as well as guest speakers talking about their relationship and interactions with the nursey and discussion about the future of horticulture and the nursery industry in California. It will be a great time to viist the nursery and network with the many fellow horticulturally minded professionals in attendance. Reservations are required and there is a $25 per attendee charge to cover expenses. This event is for our wholesale customers only and is not open to the public.
