Tecoma x smithii 'Golden Trumpets' - This plant with golden yellow flowers that have a hint of orange on the backside and interior appeared in our cutting stock blocks of Tecoma x smithii. It is either a sport of Tecoma x smithii or a seedling hybrid that arose unnoticed in our block of Tecoma x smithii at the nursery. As with its parent it is an evergreen shrub that is smaller growing than Tecoma stans var. velutina (one of the parents or T. x smithii) It will likely grow 8-12 feet tall.
Plant in full sun and water occasionally.
This plant was a San Marcos Growers introduction in 2002 but due to lack of sales we discontinued this plant. For more information see our entry for Tecoma x smithii, which we continue to grow.
