Coprosma 'Beatson's Gold' - This is a very nice evergreen shrub with delicate wiry stems clothed in tiny gold and green leaves. It usually grows to about 4 feet, but is reportedly capable to be trained into almost tree-like proportions given favorable conditions. Protect from extreme cold <15. It is suitable for most soils with medium irrigation and takes full sun. Tolerates seaside planting. Some list this as a hybrid between Coprosma acerosa and C. repens but Lawrence Metcalf in "The Zealand Trees and Shrubs" speculates that it may be a Coprosma areolata hybrid.
The information about Coprosma 'Beatson's Gold' displayed on this web page is based on our research conducted in the nursery's horticultural library and from reliable online resources. We also include observations made about it as it grows in our nursery gardens and other gardens we have visited, as well how the crops have performed in containers in our nursery field. We will also incorporate comments we receive from others and welcome hearing from anyone with additional information, particularly if they can share cultural information that would aid others in growing this plant. |
