Stachys chrysantha (Yellow Stachys) - Tuft growing woody-stemmed perennial (sub-shrub) with ascendant white tomentose stems and ½ to 1 inch long broadly ovate to nearly orbiculate, white lanate leaves. The compact spikes of light yellow ½ inch long flowers appear in late spring to summer. Plant in a sunny location in poor well-drained soil and irrigate infrequently. This plant is considered a calciphile meaning that it likes alkaline soils which makes sense as it is from rocky screes in the mountainous regions of Greece.
The information about Stachys chrysantha that is displayed on this web page is based on research conducted in our nursery's horticultural library and from reliable online resources. We will also include observations made about this plant as it grows in our nursery gardens and other gardens that we have visited, as well how the crops have performed in containers in our nursery field. We also incorporate comments that we receive from others and welcome hearing from anyone with additional information, particularly if they share cultural information that aids others growing this plant.
