Stachys chrysantha (Yellow Stachys) - Tuft growing woody-stemmed perennial (sub-shrub) with ascendant white tomentose stems and ½ to 1 inch long broadly ovate to nearly orbiculate, white lanate leaves. The compact spikes of light yellow ½ inch long flowers appear in late spring to summer. Plant in a sunny location in poor well-drained soil and irrigate infrequently. This plant is considered a calciphile meaning that it likes alkaline soils which makes sense as it is from rocky screes in the mountainous regions of Greece.
The information about Stachys chrysantha displayed on this web page is based on our research conducted in the nursery's horticultural library and from reliable online resources. We also include observations made about it as it grows in our nursery gardens and other gardens we have visited, as well how the crops have performed in containers in our nursery field. We will also incorporate comments we receive from others and welcome hearing from anyone with additional information, particularly if they can share cultural information that would aid others in growing this plant. |
