Cordyline 'Abmuz' (Red Cordyline) - A nice Cordyline with multiple upright stems holding glossy dark reddish bronze leaves. With time a main trunk up to 5 feet tall can form and in summer appear small cream flowers in a branching inflorescence. Plant in full sun (along coast) to shade in a well-drained soil and water regularly to occasionally. Hardy to 20° F. Suckers from the base so larger stems can be cut back to maintain a lower growing plant reminiscent to a New Zealand Flax (Phormium sp.). Cordyline 'Abmuz' is our name for reversions out of tissue cultured plants of the showy Cordyline 'Zumba' that has the same base color foliage, but with bright pink margins – for more information on this parent plant, see our listing at Cordyline 'Zumba' . This cultivar name is simply the parent plants name spelled backwards.
The information about Cordyline 'Abmuz' displayed on this web page is based on our research conducted in the nursery's horticultural library and from reliable online resources. We also include observations made about it as it grows in our nursery gardens and other gardens we have visited, as well how the crops have performed in containers in our nursery field. We will also incorporate comments we receive from others and welcome hearing from anyone with additional information, particularly if they can share cultural information that would aid others in growing this plant. |
