Cotoneaster salicifolius 'Repens' (Willowleaf Cotoneaster) - This low evergreen groundcover variety can grow to 1 foot tall (it will stay more prostrate if not crowded) and trails 8 feet. Arching branches are clothed in pointed leaves that have a hairy underside. White flowers in spring produce red berries in fall. Plant in full sun. Drought tolerant. A great dry shade under story groundcover but also very useful in full sun. It is hardy to <15 degrees F. We grew this plant from 1985 until 2007. Still think it a good plant but just can't grow everything.
The information about Cotoneaster salicifolius 'Repens' displayed on this web page is based on our research conducted in the nursery's horticultural library and from reliable online resources. We also include observations made about it as it grows in our nursery gardens and other gardens we have visited, as well how the crops have performed in containers in our nursery field. We will also incorporate comments we receive from others and welcome hearing from anyone with additional information, particularly if they can share cultural information that would aid others in growing this plant. |
