Grevillea 'Sunrise' - A mounding groundcover to 2 to 3 feet tall by 5 to 8 feet wide with distinct grey-green leaves that are coarsely divided into five leaflets. The eye-catching apricot-orange flowers bloom typically fall through spring with occasional off season light flowering in summer.

Plant in full sun to part shade and irrigate occasionally to infrequently. It is tolerant of heat, drought, moderate cold (hardy to 20-25°F) and alkalinity. Grevillea 'Sunrise' is a hybrid between Grevillea bipinnatifida and a 1940s hybrid from Clearview Nursery called Grevillea 'Clearview Robin' that was listed as a cross between the Snowy River form of Grevillea lanigera and Grevillea lavandulacea. It was created by Pam and David Shiells of Wakiti Nurseries in 1981 and registered under the name Grevillea 'Sunrise' by the Australian Cultivar Registration Authority in 1990.

When introduced into the US the name initially used for it honored its origins and it was called 'Wakiti Sunrise but, since becoming aware that it was officially registered as Grevillea 'Sunrise', we have changed our listing of this plant to match. We first received our plants of this nice orange cultivar from Monterey Bay Nursery and we grew it from 1998 until 2004.

The information about Grevillea 'Sunrise' displayed on this web page is based on our research conducted in the nursery's horticultural library and from reliable online resources. We also include observations made about it as it grows in our nursery gardens and other gardens we have visited, as well how the crops have performed in containers in our nursery field. We will also incorporate comments we receive from others and welcome hearing from anyone with additional information, particularly if they can share cultural information that would aid others in growing this plant.
