Nymphaea candida (Aquatic) (Hardy Waterlily) - This hardy waterlily was first described in 1822. Found throughout the regions of Kashmir, Kazakhstan, Russia (Siberia); SW Asia and into Europe. White flowers with ovate-oblong petals numbering 20-25 on each flower appear from May to September. Place in full sun for best results. Fertilize throughout the flowering season for optimum growth. Pads reach out to 3-5 feet across making this a perfect choice for small to medium size ponds. Our thanks to Lotusland for introducing us to this species.
The information about Nymphaea candida (Aquatic) displayed on this web page is based on our research conducted in the nursery's horticultural library and from reliable online resources. We also include observations made about it as it grows in our nursery gardens and other gardens we have visited, as well how the crops have performed in containers in our nursery field. We will also incorporate comments we receive from others and welcome hearing from anyone with additional information, particularly if they can share cultural information that would aid others in growing this plant. |
