Lavandula stoechas 'Snow Bunny' (White Spanish Lavender) - This is a white-flowering form of Spanish lavender. It is compact, growing to about 2 feet by 2 feet. It has gray-green 1 inch long lanceolate leaves with short unbranched inflorescence-bearing flower spikes of relatively large whitish flowers crowned by several 1 inch white petal-like bracts (bunny ears) Plant in full sun in a relatively well drained soil and water only occasionally; hardy to about 10 degrees F. The flowers of this lavender are not recommended for human consumption. In the book "The Genus Lavendula" by Tim Upson and Susyn Andrews, the white forms of Lavandula stoechas are listed as cultivars of Lavandula stoechas forma leucantha. San Marcos Growers has grown several different white spanish lavenders, which we simply called 'Alba'. In 2005 we selected and named 'Snow Bunny' as the one plant that had the cleanest white flowers and best form.
