Echeveria 'Powder Blue' (White Rose Echeveria) This attractive succulent freely offsets to form clusters of leafy rosettes to 1 foot wide with soft pale blue-green that are nearly flat on the upper surface but arch upwards towards the middle of the plant. These leaves are up to 6 inch long and 2 inches wide at the widest point near the pink-margined tips and have a waxy white coating. In summer appear the 1 foot tall stems that bend over with the weight of the large (for Echeveria) pink flowers. Plant in full sun to light shade in a well-drained soil. Hardy to around 25°F. This plant is listed as a hybrid of Echeveria subrigida in "Echeveria Cultivars" by Rudolph (Lorraine) Schulz and Attila Kapitany (Schulz Publishing, 2005) where it also notes that it is synonymous with 'White Rose' - the name 'Powder Blue' is applied to several different plants including one with large yellow flowers. Our plant from Longview Horticulture in Australia.
The information about Echeveria 'Powder Blue' that is displayed on this web page is based on research conducted in our nursery's horticultural library and from reliable online resources. We will also include observations made about this plant as it grows in our nursery gardens and other gardens that we have visited, as well how the crops have performed in containers in our nursery field. We also incorporate comments that we receive from others and welcome hearing from anyone with additional information, particularly if they share cultural information that aids others growing this plant.
Please note that after 46 years in business, San Marcos Growers will be discontinuing nursery operations by the end of 2025 and the property will be developed for affordable housing.
