x Graptoveria 'Spirit of '76' - A small rosette forming succulent with gray lilac-colored rounded leaves. This hybrid between Graptopetalum and Echeveria was created by Charles Uhl and named and introduced by John and Mary Bleck of Abbey Gardens Nursery to commemorate the US bicentennial in 1976. It was first descibed in Horticulture Magazine with a color photo and distributed by the Huntington Botanic Garden as ISI 1148. It is very similar if not identical to Graptoveria 'Debbie', introduced by Robert Foster as a seedling of 'Spirit of 76'.
The information about Graptoveria 'Spirit of '76' that is displayed on this web page is based on research conducted in our nursery's horticultural library and from reliable online resources. We will also include observations made about this plant as it grows in our nursery gardens and other gardens that we have visited, as well how the crops have performed in containers in our nursery field. We also incorporate comments that we receive from others and welcome hearing from anyone with additional information, particularly if they share cultural information that aids others growing this plant.
