x Graptoveria 'Spirit of '76' - A small rosette forming succulent with gray lilac-colored rounded leaves. This hybrid between Graptopetalum and Echeveria was created by Charles Uhl and named and introduced by John and Mary Bleck of Abbey Gardens Nursery to commemorate the US bicentennial in 1976. It was first descibed in Horticulture Magazine with a color photo and distributed by the Huntington Botanic Garden as ISI 1148. It is very similar if not identical to Graptoveria 'Debbie', introduced by Robert Foster as a seedling of 'Spirit of 76'.
The information about Graptoveria 'Spirit of '76' displayed on this web page is based on our research conducted in the nursery's horticultural library and from reliable online resources. We also include observations made about it as it grows in our nursery gardens and other gardens we have visited, as well how the crops have performed in containers in our nursery field. We will also incorporate comments we receive from others and welcome hearing from anyone with additional information, particularly if they can share cultural information that would aid others in growing this plant. |
