Aster 'Argentina' (Argentine Daisy) This small Daisy forms a mat of growth at ground level and from spring through late summer has erect stems topped with small yellow daisies. A bit reminiscent of Erigeron. This plant was given to us by John Bleck who noted that it had been brought back as seed from Argentina where it presumably was a native. It is a charming small plant with delicate foliage and small yellow flowers. We have grown this plant in our container trial gardens for several years and our observation are that it can grow in full sun or light shade. Tolerates regular to occasional irrigation and has proven hardy to at least 25 F but is likely a lot hardier.
The information about Aster 'Argentina' that is displayed on this web page is based on research conducted in our nursery's horticultural library and from reliable online resources. We will also include observations made about this plant as it grows in our nursery gardens and other gardens that we have visited, as well how the crops have performed in containers in our nursery field. We also incorporate comments that we receive from others and welcome hearing from anyone with additional information, particularly if they share cultural information that aids others growing this plant.
