Pittosporum 'Green Geno' (Green Geno Pitt) - Upright growing shrub with 2 ½ inch long by 1-inch-wide mid green leaves with wavy margins and slightly gray glaucus surface coating. Ultimate size is not yet known but this appears to eventually grow to be a large shrub that is much taller than wide.

Plant in full to part sun and irrigate occasionally. Hardiness is unknown but likely similar to the one known parent species, Pittosporum tenuifolium, which is hardy to 15-20° F.

Pittosporum 'Green Geno' was a plant selected in 2020 out of our 15 gallon seedling Pittosporum tenuifolium crop by shipping manager, the late Gene Leisch, after he noted it looked quite different from the rest of the crop with larger and broader leaves that had a slight gray cast. The seed used for this crop was purchased from Mistletoe Carter Seed in 2016 and our best guess is that it is the result of hybridization between Pittosporum tenuifolium and Pittosporum crassifolium. Our fist grown crop is from cuttings taken from this plant and we named it 'Green Geno' in 2021 to honor Gene, who sadly passed away in 2022. Other plants Gene selected include Setaria palmifolia 'Little Geno', Zantedeschia aethiopica 'Gene's Giant', Rosa californica 'Elsie' and Setaria Westringia 'Lilac Gem'

The information about Pittosporum 'Green Geno' displayed on this web page is based on our research conducted in the nursery's horticultural library and from reliable online resources. We also include observations made about it as it grows in our nursery gardens and other gardens we have visited, as well how the crops have performed in containers in our nursery field. We will also incorporate comments we receive from others and welcome hearing from anyone with additional information, particularly if they can share cultural information that would aid others in growing this plant.
