Aster 'Argentina' (Argentine Daisy) This small Daisy forms a mat of growth at ground level and from spring through late summer has erect stems topped with small yellow daisies. A bit reminiscent of Erigeron. This plant was given to us by John Bleck who noted that it had been brought back as seed from Argentina where it presumably was a native. It is a charming small plant with delicate foliage and small yellow flowers. We have grown this plant in our container trial gardens for several years and our observation are that it can grow in full sun or light shade. Tolerates regular to occasional irrigation and has proven hardy to at least 25 F but is likely a lot hardier.
This information about Aster 'Argentina' displayed is based on research conducted in our horticultural library and from reliable online resources. We also will relate observations made about it as it grows in our nursery gardens and other gardens we have visited, as well how the crops have performed in containers in our nursery field. We will also incorporate comments that we receive from others and we welcome hearing from anyone with additional information, particularly if they can share any cultural information that would aid others in growing it.
