Rosa 'Wickwar' (Wickwar Climber) - Rosa 'Wickwar' is sprawling large bush with a dense growth of grayish foliage and an abundance of tiny prickles. The medium sized (2" wide) creamy-white, single flowers are borne in clusters and followed by orange-yellow hips. Somewhat viney but can be trained as a shrub with support. Reportably tolerant of some shade and poor soils. Produced by Steadmanin the UK in 1960 as a hybrid of Rosa soulierana, which is a wild rose from China. USDA zones 4-10.
The information about Rosa 'Wickwar' displayed on this web page is based on our research conducted in the nursery's horticultural library and from reliable online resources. We also include observations made about it as it grows in our nursery gardens and other gardens we have visited, as well how the crops have performed in containers in our nursery field. We will also incorporate comments we receive from others and welcome hearing from anyone with additional information, particularly if they can share cultural information that would aid others in growing this plant. |
