Agave 'Parracolorata' – A very attractive agave with a 2 foot tall rosette of upright silvery-gray leaves that prominently display, on the outwardly exposed surfaces, the bud imprints left by the leaves below. Plant in full sun with little irrigation required. Ultimate hardiness not known but not damaged by any frosts we have experiences and likely hardy to around 15° F. This plant was a selection we made in 2012 from plants grown from seed collected by Brian Kemble from Agave parrasana that he hand pollinated with pollen from Agave colorata in the spring of 2007. All the resulting seedlings were Intermediate between the species - more open than typical Agave parrasana with thinner darker leaves than typical A. colorata. This clone was selected and named by us in 2015 because of its very strong attractive bud imprinting.

The information about Agave 'Parracolorata' displayed on this web page is based on our research conducted in the nursery's horticultural library and from reliable online resources. We also include observations made about it as it grows in our nursery gardens and other gardens we have visited, as well how the crops have performed in containers in our nursery field. We will also incorporate comments we receive from others and welcome hearing from anyone with additional information, particularly if they can share cultural information that would aid others in growing this plant.
