Banksia menziesii (Firewood Banksia) - A large tall shrub or small tree to 15 plus feet tall and as wide with thick hairy branches and 6 to 12 inch long by 1 to 2' wide blunt tipped leaves with small toothed wavy margins and rusty undersides. The very showy terminal 6 inch tall by 4 inch wide flower heads start a silver color and age to red then golden. Plant in full to part sun in well-drained light to medium soil. Tolerates drought and has a moderate frost and coastal exposure tolerance. Useful in coastal plantings.
