Echium candicans 'Select Pink' (Pink Pride of Madeira) - Long, gray-green leaves are held at the ends of the branches on this evergreen shrub that grows to 6+ feet tall by about as wide. In spring into summer appear the pyramidal stalks of pink flowers with reddish stamens. This cultivar is more upright than Echium candicans 'Goleta Beach' and our seedling a href="plantdisplay.asp?plant_id=543" target="_blank">Echium candicans plants.

Plant in full sun. It is drought tolerant in mild coastal gardens. Hardy to about 25 degrees F. A good plant for seaside gardens.

Echium candicans 'Select Pink' was a 1998 San Marcos Growers introduction from a plant given to us by Santa Barbara horticulturist Bruce Van Dyke. We discontinued growing this plant in 2006 and replaced it with Echium candicans 'San Bruno Pink' which we feel has much nicer form. For more information on the species please see our listing for called Echium candicans
