Melaleuca linariifolia (Flax Leaf Paperbark) - This is a quick-growing, dense small tree or shrub to 30 feet tall by 20 feet wide. It has smooth and soft, dark green leaves to 1 1/2 inch long. In its juvenile stage the branches are willowy in appearance; at maturity the crown becomes umbrella-like. The white bark is soft, spongy and peels in strips. Small, white bottle-brush-type flowers appear in summer. It is hardy down to 20 degrees F.
This information about Melaleuca linariifolia displayed is based on research conducted in our horticultural library and from reliable online resources. We also will relate observations made about it as it grows in our nursery gardens and other gardens we have visited, as well how the crops have performed in containers in our nursery field. We will also incorporate comments that we receive from others and we welcome hearing from anyone with additional information, particularly if they can share any cultural information that would aid others in growing it.
