Oxalis purpurea 'Grand Duchess' (Pink Oxalis) - A deciduous bulb with large clover-like foliage that emerges in late fall through early spring. In mid winter are borne the 1 1/2" wide yellow-throated pink funnel-shaped flowers. Plant in full winter sun for best display but can grow well with less flowering in light shade. Give little or no summer irrigation while dormant. Hardy 15-20F. Unlike some others in the purpurea group, the Grand Duchess series does not aggressively spread or become weedy.
This information about Oxalis purpurea 'Grand Duchess' displayed is based on research conducted in our horticultural library and from reliable online resources. We also will relate observations made about it as it grows in our nursery gardens and other gardens we have visited, as well how the crops have performed in containers in our nursery field. We will also incorporate comments that we receive from others and we welcome hearing from anyone with additional information, particularly if they can share any cultural information that would aid others in growing it.
