Boronia clavata 'Heather Wand' (UCSC Koala Blooms Intro) - A graceful, compact evergreen shrub 4-6 feet tall and wide with narrow, light green leaves that are strongly scented. Small delicately perfumed, bell-shaped greenish-yellow flowers are borne in profusion in spring. Attractive in mixed plantings; excellent for bouquets. Best grown in moist but freely-draining soil in a partly-shaded position. Grows in a wide range of soils and tolerates coastal conditions. Withstands limited periods of dryness and light frosts. Prune moderately after flowering to encourage fullness. Excellent choice for a small screen. Has proven hardy to 28° F and is probably hardy to at least 25° F. A 2004 UCSC Koala Blooms Introduction. This plant will be available from San Marcos Growers, Rosendale Nursery, Suncrest Nursery, Monterey Bay Nursery and Native Sons Nursery.
