Aloe 'Peppermint' - A wild looking small aloe that forms a cluster of upright 6 to 12 inch tall rosettes of mid green colored leaves that have very pale green longitudinal dashes lined up in bands across the upper surface of the leaves and bright orange leaf margins. The orange flowers rise above the leaves in winter. Plant in full sun to light shade in a well-drained soil and give occasional to infrequent irrigation. Hardy to around 25° F. This is one of the new Kelly Griffin fancy-foliage hybrids that is being sold by Xeric Growers Nursery. As with many of Kelly's hybrids, this plant involves the crossing of several species over a number of generations. Xeric Growers notes that 'Peppermint' "has upright leaves that have transverse bands on the leaves that resemble the stripes of a candy cane thus the name. It is green with blushes of red, coral and pink to the leaves. It grows to the size of a softball and similarly it has a somewhat rounded shape." Our plants and images from Xeric Growers Nursery.
