Dalea greggii (Trailing Indigo Bush) - This is a fast growing evergreen groundcover which can grow to 3 feet wide in 1 1/2 years. Tiny, rose-lavender to purple, rarely yellow flowers appear in late winter to early spring into summer on evergreen, gray-green foliage; grows up to 1-2 ft tall and 4-6 ft wide; fast growing. Plant in full sun. It tolerates heat, frost, rabbits and is drought tolerant once established. Cold hardy to 20-25 degrees F., possibly lower. Native to southwest US and northern Mexico at 2000'-4500' elevation. We grew this plant from 2002 until 2005 but no longer produce it.
The information about Dalea greggii displayed on this web page is based on our research conducted in the nursery's horticultural library and from reliable online resources. We also include observations made about it as it grows in our nursery gardens and other gardens we have visited, as well how the crops have performed in containers in our nursery field. We will also incorporate comments we receive from others and welcome hearing from anyone with additional information, particularly if they can share cultural information that would aid others in growing this plant. |
