Plant in full sun to light shade in a relatively well-drained soil and irrigate occasionally. This plant came onto the horticultural scene in California in 2008 so we are still discovering its drought tolerance and cold hardiness. Given this plant's parentage we speculate that it will likely be hardy in most coastal California gardens and should be able to get by with only limited irrigation.

This plant was from a seedling crop that were the result of an attempted cross we performed between x Mangave 'Bloodspot' and Agave nizandensis, but a nearby flowering Agave filifera and the x Mangave 'Bloodspot' were also being visited by Hummingbirds. We speculate that the resulting plants are more likely a cross between 'Bloodspot' and Agave filifera or even some self-pollination of 'Bloodspot'. We got a pretty good range of colors and number of spots, but nothing that really looked that much like Agave nizandensis.
