x Mangave 'Racing Stripes' PP31,251 - A small agave-like plant to 14 to 18 inches tall by 22 to 28 inches wide with narrow dark green stiff slightly decurved leaves that have reddish teeth along the margins and have a contrasting chartreuse band down the center of the leaf with a red spine tip. It forms a cluster with a few offsets tight to the parent plant.
Plant in full to half day sun in a well-drained soil and give occasional to regular irrigation - the brighter the light the more pronounced the red color. Cold hardiness on this variety is not well documented but it is thought to be hardy and evergreen down to the low teens with ports of handling temperatures down to 11° F without damage so and useful in USDA Zones 8 and above. This plant's compact habit makes it a great choice for container gardening or for a select small spot in the garden.
