Hemerocallis 'Pookie Bear' (Pookie Bear Daylily) - Cute miniature daylily with 2.5 inch terracotta-pink flowers that are centered with a maroon eye and green throat. Lush green foliage matures to 20 inches tall. Blooms early to mid-season and repeats. This deciduous diploid daylily was hybridized by Durio in 1984 and won the Florida Sunshine Medal in 1989. For added vigor divide mature clumps every 3 to 5 years and fertilize in late spring. Hemerocallis comes from two Greek words meaning ''beauty'' and ''day,'' referring to the fact that each flower lasts only a day. We grew this variety from 1998 to 2007.
The information about Hemerocallis 'Pookie Bear' displayed on this web page is based on our research conducted in the nursery's horticultural library and from reliable online resources. We also include observations made about it as it grows in our nursery gardens and other gardens we have visited, as well how the crops have performed in containers in our nursery field. We will also incorporate comments we receive from others and welcome hearing from anyone with additional information, particularly if they can share cultural information that would aid others in growing this plant. |
