The following list of plants for gardens that suffer from deer damage is compiled from several sources. A primary source was
a list that was published within an excellent article by Mary Lynn Cox titled "Co-Existing with Deer" in the Fall 1986 issue of
Pacific Horticulture. This article suggests methods to prevent deer from reaching your prize plants and lists the plants most
likely to be browsed.
If you are having trouble with other nocturnal visitors to your garden - Visit our Raccoon abatement page.
Also see these links to other good sources of information on how to keep deer and raccoons from destroying your garden.
It should be noted that a hungry deer is likely to eat any plant but the following plants will likely be eaten as a last resort and
only after clearing your neighbors yard of more delectable items.
Plants with an asterisk * should be a reasonably safe bet but are more likely to be eaten than the plants without an asterisk. Any comments and
additions to this list would be appreciated.
