Euphorbia x martinii Tiny Tim ['Waleutiny'] PP16,930 (Dwarf Bush Spurge) - A compact upright growing ornamental spurge to 1 foot tall and nearly as wide with reddish stems and attractive dark green foliage that flushes red-purple with new growth and flowers, whose showy parts are composed of chartreuse colored bracts and red nectaries, that form on red stems at the branch tips in spring. Plant in full sun to light shade in a well-drained soil and water occasionally to infrequently. It is hardy to below 0°F and useful down to at least USDA Zone 6. Like many other Euphorbia this one has been pest free and has not been attractive to deer or rabbits. Trim spent flower stems to near the base after flowering in midsummer to encourage fresh new growth. A great smaller Euphorbia suitable for use in container, perennial or rock garden, or as a groundcover in the landscape. This plant was selected by Albert Crowther In December 2000 as a vegetative branch sport (mutation) on an unpatented Euphorbia x martinii within a commercial crop in his nursery in Walberton, West Sussex, England. It is distinguished by dwarf size, compact habit, burgundy and green stems, small burgundy and green leaves and lime-green flowers. Euphorbia x martinii, itself a hybrid between Euphorbia characias and Euphorbia amygdaloides 'Rubra', typically grows to about 2 feet tall by 18 to 30 inches wide while this compact cultivar on grows to about 1 foot tall and wide and has smaller flowers than Euphorbia x martinii, so it appears to be a miniature version of this plant.
