To the left of the steps leading to the front porch of is a beautiful planting of Phormium 'Cream Delight'
beneath a white form of Yellow Oleander (Thevetia peruviana 'Alba') and a Cabbage Tree (Cussonia
spicata). This garden vignette inspired author/ photographer Derek Fell to include this same view in
his book 550 Perennial Garden Ideas.
Moving to another area of the Demonstration garden again brings all new sights. Although planted much like a collection garden, with many different species grouped together, the similarity of much of the plant material creates harmonious repetition. The garden surrounding the Accounting office is an
exhibit of plants for coastal California's Mediterranean climate. Here lavender mixes with rosemary, sage, rockrose, California lilac and native grasses.
