In March of 2004 San Marcos Growers provided a significant number of the plants that were planted in and around the entry to the Savanna Exhibit at the San Francisco Zoo. Early in the design process it was decided that the zoo
would use only plants of African origin and fortunately San Marcos Growers has a large pallet of just such plants to choose from. John Koegler, San Marcos Growers Salesman, worked closely with zoo horticulturist Tom Chiosso to eliminate any poisonous plants and those considered unsuitable
for the San Francisco Coastal exposure from the list, yet were able to come up with a considerable number of plants to choose from. We are pleased to note that after three years, most of these plants are growing very well and the garden looks great.
