Thunbergia mysorensis planted in San Marcos Growers garden |
|
This beautiful evergreen vine in the Acanthus family (Acanthaceae) comes from Mysore, India. It can grow to 16-25 ft. tall by at
least this wide. The bicolored red & yellow flowers can be present year-round in mild winter climates. Plant in full
sun or part shade and train up to a strong structure. Cold hardy to 28-30 degrees F. This vine is fantastic for a high pergola where the pendant flowers can drip down to be viewed from below. Sweet nectar is produced in copious quantities, attracting hummingbirds. See another picture of this beautiful vine above the entrance to an office at San Marcos Growers.
