Echinodorus cordifolius 'Marble Queen' (Aquatic) ('Marble Queen') - 'Marble Queen' is a striking variegated form of the species. Dramatic pattern of creamy yellow and green variegation appear throughout the foliage of this marginal (bog) plant. In the spring, this plant forms a stout rosette of submerged leaves that look like light green, undulatiing water lily leaves. However, it also has a strong tendency to grow above the surface in shallow water (depth 18" and under) and send up leaf blades which are stiffer and have a heart shape. In the summer, white flowers bloom for a long period on stalks that are first erect, but later arch over. It will reach about 2 feet tall by 3 feet spread, prefers part sun, and is hardy to about 20 degrees F. We grew this plant form 2003 until 2007.

The information about Echinodorus cordifolius 'Marble Queen' that is displayed on this web page is based on research conducted in our nursery's horticultural library and from reliable online resources. We will also include observations made about this plant as it grows in our nursery gardens and other gardens that we have visited, as well how the crops have performed in containers in our nursery field. We also incorporate comments that we receive from others and welcome hearing from anyone with additional information, particularly if they share cultural information that aids others growing this plant.
