Marsilea minuta (Aquatic) (Miniature Water Clover) - This small Marsilea only grows to a couple inches high and prefers growing on saturated soil to very shallow water. The tiny leaflets are unequal in size with the outer ones being somewhat larger. An attractive feature is the marking on the leaflet. At the base there is a small light colored oval that has at its inner side a darker dot. This could possibly be used effectively at the base of bonsai specimens. It is hardy to about 20 degrees F.
This information about Marsilea minuta displayed is based on research conducted in our horticultural library and from reliable online resources. We also will relate observations made about it as it grows in our nursery gardens and other gardens we have visited, as well how the crops have performed in containers in our nursery field. We will also incorporate comments that we receive from others and we welcome hearing from anyone with additional information, particularly if they can share any cultural information that would aid others in growing it.
