Nymphoides geminata (Aquatic) (Chocolate Snowflake) - The half-hardy, 1-inch leaves are very distinctive on this plant. Dark chocolate brown with bright green veins sprawl across the water's surface. Five-petaled, fringed, yellow blossoms stand out of the water and add sparkle in summer. Especially suited to growing in small pools and tub gardens. Can be in water up to 24 inches deep. Best growth in full sun to partial shade. Grow as an annual in colder zones or move to greenhouse with adequate light. Hardy in zones 7 -10. We grew this plant from 2003 until 2005.
This information about Nymphoides geminata (Aquatic) displayed is based on research conducted in our horticultural library and from reliable online resources. We also will relate observations made about it as it grows in our nursery gardens and other gardens we have visited, as well how the crops have performed in containers in our nursery field. We will also incorporate comments that we receive from others and we welcome hearing from anyone with additional information, particularly if they can share any cultural information that would aid others in growing it.
