Myriophyllum aquaticum (Aquatic) (Parrot's Feather) - The stem-tips of this aquatic plant curve upwards out of the water to display fine-textured whorls of blue-green feathery, hair-like leaves. As it grows out into the water in search of more soil, its stems float just under the water. The stems can reach 1 to 5 feet long. Plant in sun or part shade in water that is 4 to 12 inches deep. It is hardy to about 30 degrees F. Native to Chile and Uruguay.
The information about Myriophyllum aquaticum displayed on this web page is based on our research conducted in the nursery's horticultural library and from reliable online resources. We also include observations made about it as it grows in our nursery gardens and other gardens we have visited, as well how the crops have performed in containers in our nursery field. We will also incorporate comments we receive from others and welcome hearing from anyone with additional information, particularly if they can share cultural information that would aid others in growing this plant. |
