Thunbergia gregorii planted in San Marcos Growers garden |
|
The Orange Clock Vine is a evergreen vine in the Acanthus family (Acanthaceae) that comes from central Africa.
It grows to 8-10 ft. tall or if left without support can become an extensive groundcover.
The pure orange bright flowers distinguish it from Thunbergia alata, which
has a dark center and winged petioles. Both vines bloom year-round in coastal California gardens. Plant in
full sun and water only occasionally. This vine is cold hardy to 25-30 degrees F. A great chain link fence cover
or as a ground cover with succulents and decomposed granite.
